Way of Cross planning meeting this week
People interested in learning more about or participating in the Way of the Cross/Way of Peace are invited to attend a planning meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. Thursday.

Kemper County Chamber of Commerce hosts prayer breakfast
The Kemper County Chamber of Commerce will host a Prayer Breakfast on Thursday at the Farmers Market. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast at 7.

Make-A-Wish to hold volunteer meeting
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi will hold its monthly Meridian Volunteer Luncheon Thursday.
The meeting, from 11:45 a.m-1 p.m., is at the Rush Medical Group, sixth floor board room. Today is the deadline for making reservations by calling Lynn Conerly, (800) 819-4072.
Health Fair in Quitman Friday
The Mississippi State University Extension Service and the Clarke County Homemaker Volunteers will sponsor a Health Fair From 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the Multi-Purpose Building in Quitman. Blood pressure and glucose tolerance will be checked. Various agencies will have displays offering educational information.

March for Christ' program scheduled Saturday
People of different denominations have been invited to participate in an evening of music and praise in a "March for Christ" program on Saturday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 512 18th St.
Special guests include the W.C. Griffin Singers, mimers and praise dancers of St. John MB Church in Meridian. A $10 donation is being asked of each participant.

Family Matters Conference and Youth Rally set for Feb. 19
Both events begin at 6 p.m.
Speakers for the parent conference will be Jim Cook, motivational speaker and retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, and Judge Eric Andell, senior adviser to U.S. Education Secretary Rod Paige.
Cook also will be the Youth Rally speaker. There will be a band, door prizes and a free Family Matters T-shirt (while supplies last) for participants who bring two canned goods.
McRae's begins school benefit
McRae's officials invite local schools and school organizations to participate in the store's annual "School Benefit Sale." This year's event will take place 6 a.m.-10 a.m. March 2. Newton Regional Hospital sponsors talent showcase
Newton Regional Hospital will sponsor a talent showcase at 2 p.m. March 9 to raise money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life 2002. The show will be in Huff Auditorium at East Central Community College in Decatur.
The entry fee is $25. Entry forms may be picked up at the hospital or obtained by calling Michael Miller at 683-0325 or 635-2509.
Aldersgate sponsoring annual dinner
The resident council at Aldersgate Retirement Community is sponsoring an annual Chicken Spaghetti Dinner Feb. 25 from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The menu will include, chicken spaghetti, Italian green beans, green salad, bread and banana pudding. Plates are $6 and take-out is available.

Postal workshop to be held
The U.S. Postal Service has reopened the registration for candidates to take the rural carrier associates exam.
The Meridian area QWL-EI group is presenting a free workshop for the public. Sessions will be 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Main Post Office in Meridian, 2100 Ninth St.
Test-taking tips, sample test questions and the duties and responsibilities of a rural carrier associate will be given out.
