No such thing as a good loss for Shirley
His team may have played one of the state's top 5A teams to within a basket, but Meridian Head Coach Donald Shirley was not happy.
The 62-59 loss drops Meridian to 14-10 on the season. The Lady Wildcats had their chances. They had a 45-44 lead in the fourth quarter. Even down one late, they still had a chance but a walking turnover near mid-court gave the ball back to Wayne County.
The Lady War Eagles then converted a timely inside basket by Natalie Jordan to go up three.
The Lady Wildcats were called for blocking fouls instead.
