Southeast Lauderdale's Lady Tigers took a giant leap toward putting themselves in good position for the upcoming Division 5-3A Tournament with a 67-64 home win over Newton County Tuesday.
The Lamar School Raider soccer playoff run was valiant, albeit short. In coach Chad Acton's swan song, the Raiders bowed out in the first round of the Mississippi Private School Association playoffs to Jackson Academy in a controversial 1-0 decision.

It took overtime, but coach Joan McClung's Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans closed out the season in style Thursday night as they defeated the visiting West Jones Lady Mustangs 2-1 for a come-from-behind victory.
DECATUR Jamie Floyd scored 22 points and Nicole Barrett poured in 20 to lead the East Central Lady Warriors to an 89-64 pasting of visiting Gulf Coast Thursday night in junior college basketball action.
Jim Kelly will end an 11-year NFL career that includes four straight Super Bowl appearances today. The 36-year-old quarterback and owner Ralph Wilson have reportedly been working on a $1 million compensation deal. Kelly will announce his retirement during a news conference at the team's practice facility.

Meridian Community College coach Fred Thompson knows his Eagles can play with anyone on a given night. Thursday night was a given night, but it wasn't just any opponent. It was once-beaten Northeast Mississippi Community College. MCC turned up the heat in the second half, pressing the third-ranked Tigers into submission in an 82-74 win.
ENTERPRISE All season long, head coach Joe Miller has been waiting for his Southeast Lauderdale Lady Tigers to come together. And if this is it, they've picked a good time. After the Lady Tigers' 69-41 win over division foe Enterprise Thursday night, Southeast moves to 10-12 overall and 4-0 in the division. The next three games should tell the tale for the Lady Tigers.

Mandy McGrevey
Mandy McGrevey, a junior at Newton County High School, is enjoying her first Division 5-3A Soccer Championship.
McGrevey has played soccer since the seventh grade for Newton County. In the seventh grade, McGrevey was a starter for the boys' junior varsity team. She remained on the boys' team until her tenth grade year.
Now, McGrevey runs the sidelines at Newton County for the Lady Cougars. She's also a cheerleader for Newton County.
Her hope for the future?
Mandy is the daughter of Mike and Ada McGrevey of Decatur.
