Wildcats go 1-2 in Poplar Bluff Tourney
The Meridian Wildcats lost two games and won one in the Poplar Bluff Tournament over the weekend.
The Wildcats dropped a 64-51 decision to Columbia. Leading scorers for the Cats were Fred Cole with 13 points and Jason Windham with 13.
Meridian would take another lose in the tournament. Antioch defeatd the Wildcats 66-60 in Meridians second game of the tournament. Tony Dunn led the Wildcats in scoring with 24 points.
The Wildcats would rally in their last game of the tournament 57-49 over McClellan. Tony Dunn would lead Meridian in scoring with 21 points.
West Lauderdale girls defeat Hoover
West Lauderdale out scored Hoover 45-39. The Lady Knights out scored Hoover 28-25 in the first half. West Lauderdal held on to the lead the remander of the game. The ladt Trojans scored 17 points in the sceond half. J.J. Huggins led West Lauderdale with 13. Kristina Gardner had 11. West Laderdale is 3-0.
Newton high boys hold on to beat Taylorsville
Taylorsville jumped out 22-26 at half. Newton would rally in the third led by Bobby Lindsey. Newton's defense was too strong for Taylorsville to come back. Bobby Lindsey led Newton with 23. Laddoria Blaylock coontributed 15. Newton playes Wednseday in the Central Mississippi Classic.
Newton girls control Taylorsville
The 11-2 Newton girls defeated Taylorsville 73-43. Several Newton players saw action in the game. Lenore Gray led the Newton with 29. Creoshia Williams contributed 9 for Newton.
