The Girl Scout lodge at Camp Meridale will soon have a new feature on its walls.
The Magnolia Quilt Guild worked for months on a quilt that displays logos and themes related to girl scouting and then donated the quilt to the organization. The handmade piece also displays the different camp sites at Meridale including the "Covered Wagons", "Tall Timbers" and "Tree Houses."
The 15-member group started work on the quilt early last summer using enlarged photocopies of the Camp Meridale Patch, various try-its from the Brownie group, patches, logos and themes. Each picture was outlined on the quilt in tiny white thread.
Girl Scout Troop 796 recently held their annual "Adopt a Grandparent" project at Meridian Manor Apartments. The troop provided more than 30 gift bags to residents through the help from local merchants.
Troop leader Mary McBride and assistant leader Gloria Carey helped the girls, each of whom received an "Adopt a Grandparent" patch. "The project was a blessing to the troop," McBride said.
