The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors will discuss issues ranging from roads to redistricting at a work session today.
Cold weather generally hampers road projects, but board President Jimmie Smith said several projects are in progress in District 2, including a 3-mile stretch of Johnson Road where county workers are laying down asphalt.
Smith said this project was originally scheduled for 2001, but was delayed by rain.
Smith said the Johnson Road project will cost $100,000-$200,000 or $40,000-$50,000 a mile.
In District 3, improvements are planned for Suqualena Road and Arkadelphia Road in northwestern Lauderdale County.
The supervisors are also expected to: 1) discuss buying a truck from the city of Meridian to be used by animal control workers; and 2) hear remarks from NAACP President Obie Clark about redistricting.
