Break comes game too late for MCC Eagles

The Meridian Community College Eagles head into the Christmas break with an 8-6 record.
It may have been better had the Eagles skipped last Saturday's home date with Bevill State out of Jasper, Ala. Bevill whipped the Eagles for the second time this season in taking the 84-71 win.
The Eagles had knocked off rival Jones 89-85 in the game prior to Bevill. Against Bevill, the Eagles' top two scorers in Sammie Cole and Robert Ivy were held to just 10 points each. The pair had entered the contest averaging 17.8 and 17.6 points respectively. MCC will return to action on Jan. 7 when they host Alabama Southern.

Monique Horner fuels the Lady Eagle attack
Last March, Monique Horner led the Mississippi prepsters averaging over 34 points per game. Her high-scoring ways delivered a State 3A title for the Southeast Lauderdale Lady Tigers.
In her first season with Meridian Community College, Horner has become a complete player. While she is scoring 10.3 points per game, it's the assists where the 5-5 guard has made the biggest impact.
Horner has already accumulated 129 assists in 13 games. That's an average of 9.92 per game.
