UWA women move to 5-1; host Harding

TUSKEGEE, Ala. Behind a season-high 19 points from senior Kim Cooper, the University of West Alabama Lady Tigers picked up their fourth consecutive win by knocking off Tuskegee University, 76-63.
Both teams shot just over 35 percent from the field in the first half. However, the Tigers would convert four more free throws, and carry a slim 37-32 lead into the locker room. UWA would come out in the second half and convert on 14-of-28 field goals (50 percent) en route to outscoring the Tigerettes 39-31.
Cooper led UWA with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting, and tied for the team lead with eight rebounds. Thelma Hearn again narrowly missed a triple double, scoring 10 points to go along with eight rebounds and seven assists. She also led all players with six steals. Sophomore Lori Weber connected on 6-of-12 shots, including one three pointer, on her way to a 15-point afternoon. CaMeshia Pete also turned in a solid performance, scoring 11 points to go along with four rebounds and four steals.
West Alabama moves to 5-1 on the season (1-0 in GSC play). The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when Harding comes to Pruitt Hall for a 2 p.m. matchup.
