Summerford, Thomas

Mary Margaret Thomas of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Adam Hyche Summerford of Charleston, S.C., were married Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, in the garden of Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point. The Rev. Roy D. Hawkins officiated.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson Thomas of Shuqualak, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Quentin Summerford of Birmingham, Ala.
Grandparents of the bride are the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stephen Adcock, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Thomas, all of Shuqualak.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mrs. Bailus E. Donaldson of Birmingham and the late Dr. Donaldson of Carbon Hill, Ala.; Mrs. R.Q. Summerford of Moody, Ala., and the late Mr. Summerford of Birmingham.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Vince Massimino, Tom Lowe and Mickey Davis, violinists; Tien-Sheng Li, cellist; and Wayne Linehan, trumpeter. All musicians are members of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra in Jackson. Soloist was Robbie Hales.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family.
She wore an ivory silk faille strapless A-line gown featuring beaded floral applique detail and a tulle modesty piece at the neckline. The back of the gown had covered buttons running down the length of the gown to the end of the sweep train.
In her hair, the bride wore a custom made tiara with matching beading which held a long pencil edged and crystal veil that swept beyond the length of her train.
Maid of honor was Catherine Cullers Chance of Richmond, Va. Other attendants were Karly Summerford Martin of Birmingham, sister of the bridegroom, Katherine Burwell Thomas of Columbus, sister-in-law of the bride, Elizabeth Wilson Clare Thomas of Columbia, S.C., Katherine Scott Rodgers of Knoxville, Tenn., Melissa Natalie Floyd of Charlotte, N.C., Melanie McLaughlin Thomas of Macon, sister-in-law of the bride, and Frances Louise Kline of Charleston. Flower girl was Ashley Victoria Thomas of Macon, niece of the bride.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were John Grant Alspaugh of Chelsea, Ala., Robert Adriaan Cather of Birmingham, George Gambrill Lynn of Birmingham, Daniel Christopher Charles Martin of Birmingham, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, John Stephen Thomas of Columbus, brother of the bride, William Anderson Thomas of Macon, brother of the bride, Kevin Michael Lambert of Birmingham, John Robert Montgomery of Birmingham and David Brooks Adair of Boone, N.C.
Program attendant and junior groomsman was William Anderson Thomas III, nephew of the bride. Also assisting with programs was Matthew Robert Cather of Birmingham.
A reception was held at Old Waverly Golf Club following the ceremony. Music was provided by "KC and the Southside Rockers" of Batesville.
Wedding guests held lighted sparklers as the couple came out of the club to a waiting flower bedecked roadster. They drove away through a synchronized fireworks display.
After a honeymoon in Cayo Espanto, a private island in Belize, Central America, the couple resides in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
