If their was one game that was circled on the schedule for both teams it would be this one. The matchup of two of the area's best players took place, but in the end the Bay Springs Bulldogs took the win over Enterprise by a final score of 66-55. "We played a very good fourth quarter," said Bay Springs head coach Ron Norman. "We had an advantage as far as our depth on the bench and that made a difference in the end," Norman added.
That statement was very true as Enterprise had four players foul out in the second half including Corey Bogan. "I am very proud of the way we played with those guys," said Enterprise head coach Mark Davis. "We just fell a little short a the end, but we played hard and that really mattered the most," Davis added. Enterprise made a point early in the contest and that was they were not going to be underestimated as the Bulldogs started the contest on an 11-0 run. Bogan ripped off seven of the eleven points to give Enterprise the early edge in the game.
Enterprise led at the end of the first quarter by an 11-4 margin. Bay Springs started to spark some offense behind Forte as he trimmed the lead to 11-6 on a pair of shots. Bogan quickly answered the shots from Forte and extend the Enterprise lead to 13-6. Josh Crosby cut the lead on the next trip up the floor on a basket to make the score 13-8 with 6:22 remaining in the second quarter of play. Moments later Bogan came on fire again with yet another pair of baskets to give the Bulldogs a 19-12 lead with 3:55 left until the halftime break.
The Bulldogs rode the hot shooting of Bogan, but Forte tied the game at 26-26 at the end of the second quarter on eight points and put the pressure on Bogan. Of course Bogan being the great player that he is quickly answered in the next half with five straight points and give Enterprise a slim 32-31 lead. Bay Springs later took one of their first leads of the game on a basket by Jessup Crosby to make the score 33-32. The Bulldogs came right back on a basket from Bogan and Cody Hicks to give Enterprise the lead once again. Boagn then hit two more big shots and make the score 43-42 in favor of the Bulldogs. Enterprise didn't have enough gas in the tank as Bay Springs took the 66-55 win over the Bulldogs. Bogan finished his big night with 35 points and Forte finished with 17 points for Bay Springs. "It was everything that we expected it to be," Davis added. Many questions still remain of who is the best, but a long season is still to come.
