Accountants' organizations raise money for Hope Village

The Mississippi Association of Public Accountants and the Tennessee Association of Accountants recently raised more than $900 for Hope Village for Children.
The two organizations raised the money at their annual joint convention at Lake Tia-K'hata. Traditionally, the two groups have sponsored an internal fund-raiser for a charity of their choice during their annual meetings.
MAPA member and Meridian resident Ann Ezell persuaded attendees at the convention to support Hope Village, a home for neglected and abused children expected to open Dec. 27.
Ezell had heard a lot recently about Hope Village.
In fact, Ezell talked about it so much that her 8-year-old granddaughter, Rachel Vossler of Columbus, dressed as Sela Ward on her school's "Come as a Famous Mississippian Day" and did a presentation on Hope Village for Children.
Ward, a Meridian native and award-winning actress, is one of the top supporters of Hope Village.
Carrie Ponder, executive director of Hope Village for Children, expressed appreciation to MAPA on behalf of Ward and Hope's board of directors.
