Local artists' pieces in traveling show

East Mississippi Community College art instructor Denise Dengler and former EMCC student, Courtney Tannehill, both had pieces accepted in the Mississippi Art Colony traveling show.
Dengler's work, "Sacrifice" and Tannehill's watercolor, "Loose Chads," were chosen to travel in the Fall 2001 Art Colony Exhibition. The schedule for the 26 painting show is as follows:
Nov.1-30 Depot Gallery, Pascagoula
Jan.-Feb. Philadelphia Public Library, Philadelphia
March 10-April 25, Artworks, Laurel
Tannehill's mixed media piece features a pattern design, employing primary and secondary colors with yellow as a dominant theme.
Dengler's mixed media with pastel work employs religious iconography with Christian symbolism. Warm yellows and reds play against a blue green background.
Established in 1948, the Mississippi Art Colony is the country's oldest artist-run organization of its kind. Entry into the exhibition is highly competitive and an honor for those whose pieces are chosen for the show.
