QUITMAN The 5-0 Meridian Wildcats knocked off Harrison Central Saturday night in a come back win to claim the Quitman Invitational, 82-79.
In other tournament action, the Lady Wildcats also claimed the title, by defeating the Lady Rebels 83-56.
WQMS AM 1500's Tournament MVP,Jamaine Winfield was the lead scorer for the Wildcats, as he dropped 28 points.
The Wildcats trailed the Rebels 36-23, at the halftime break, but a big third period proved to be the difference.
The Wildcats tied Harrison Central late in the fourth period, and they went back and fourth in scoring. MHS got the ball, however, they could not draw a last minute foul so the game went into a 4:00 overtime period.
The Wildcats scored 10 points in the overtime, to win the title.
Meridian was lead in scoring by Winfield 28, and Matthew Gonzalez added 12.
The Rebels were lead in scoring by Jerrill Beard 23, and Kinard Darish dropped 11.
The WQMS All Tournament team consisted of four Wildcats, along with three Panthers from Quitman.
Those from Meridian making the team: Fred Cole, Keno Leflore, Theo Naylor, and Winfield.
Those from Quitman making the team: Lorenzo White, Sidney King, and Jason Pearson.
Those from Harrison Central making the team: Byron Sanders, Fred Kennedy, Anthony Bonds, and Beard.
Meridian will travel to Heildberg on Monday for a tough 5A match up, against the Oilers.

The Lady Wildcats had no problem Saturday night winning the Quitman Invitational, as they knocked off Harrison Central 83-56.
The Lady Wildcats hit a 12-0, run early in the second quarter, to put the Lady Rebels away.
The Lady Wildcats outscored Harrison Central 28-7, in the second period to clear the path to the winners' circle.
Meridian was led in scoring by Valencia Hairston with 30, as she went on to claim the WQMS MVP trophy as well. Stephaine Mosley had a double-double night for the Lady Wildcats, as she had 20 points, and a game high 15 assists in the win.
Harrison Central was led in scoring by Drapunda Anderson 15, and Lynette Travis added 10 for the Lady Rebels.
The Lady Wildcats placed four players on the WQMS All Tournament team, and Quitman added three.
Those making the team from Meridian were: Mosley, Hairston, Kiearra Williams, and Latisha Jones.
Those making the team from Quitman were: Mashana Bonner, Shaquilla Mack, and Shalanda Carter.
Those making the team from Harrison Central were: Shawna Bell, Sherika Reed, and Anderson.
The 4-2 Lady Wildcats will hit the road, as they will prepare to play Heildberg on Monday.
