    OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, NOV. 15, 2001

    Mrs. Swoope, 90, of Memphis, Tenn., died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis. She was a member of Newton Presbyterian Church. She attended Newton High School, Clarke Memorial College and the University of Southern Mississippi. Mrs. Swoope was married on Jan. 21, 1940, to Charles Carter Swoope of Memphis. She was a long time resident of Newton before moving to Trezevant Manor of Memphis in 1996.
    Survivors include a son, Charles Carter Swoope Jr. of New York City; a niece, Mrs. Joseph Patter of Memphis; three great-nieces, Mrs. William Boykin and Mrs. Michael Thompson, both of Memphis, and Mrs. Woody Ray of Crawfordsville, Ark.; a great-nephew, Benjamin C. Adams of Memphis; several great-nieces and nephews; several great-great-nieces and nephews from England and Australia.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Jacoway and Luna Lake Van Eaton Mahan; her husband, Charles Carter Swoope Sr.; and a brother, Hiram "Happy" Mahan.
    The family requests memorials be made to a charitable organization.

    MACON Services for Lydia Lee will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Magnolia Mennonite Church with the Revs. Ben Graber and Paul Shirk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Cockrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Lee, 91, of Macon, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, in her home.
    Survivors include seven daughters, Katie Edgar of Wilmington, Del., Emma Beachy of Arthur, Ill., Tillie Miller of Macon, Gertie Beachy of Brooksville, Martha Balsley of Bremen, Ind., Barbara Smith of Bradenton, Fla., and Lois Borntrager of Macon; five sons, Levi Lee of Macon, Norman Lee of Millersburg, Ind., Albert Lee of Goshen, Ind., Edward Lee of Vernon, Ala., and Nelson Lee of Hutchinson, Kan.; three sisters, Susie Herschberger of Arthur, Cora Yutzy of McMinnville, Ore., and Ella Mast of Mysertown, Pa.; three brothers, Levi Schrock of Sullivan, Ill., David Schrock of Ruston, La., and Dan Schrock of Phoenix; 37 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Menno Lee; five sisters and two brothers.
    Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    JAMES GRACE
    Retired farmer, pipe fitter
    Services for James "Jack" Grace will be held Saturday at noon at Brown Ridge Baptist Church in DeKalb with the Rev. Bennie Hopkins Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Clark's Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Grace, 88, of DeKalb, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Kemper County Nursing Home.
    Survivors include his wife, Pearl Grace of DeKalb; four sons, Willie Grace and his wife, Ida, of Ft. Meade, Fla., Willie James Grace and his wife, Geraline, Curtis Grace and his wife, June, all of Meridian, and Bobby Grace of DeKalb; eight daughters, Annie Jean McCaleb and her husband, William, Zula Stewart and her husband, James, all of Meridian, Katie Mae Barfield and her husband, James, of Daleville, Inda Williams and her husband, Walter, of Forkland, Ala., Anna Craigs and her husband, Gene, and Rose McGrew and her husband, Wydell of Preston, Ella Nave and her husband, Reuben, of Scooba, and Cora Ann Blanks of Lauderdale; three brothers, T.C. Grace and John Grace of Meridian, and Wes Grace of DeKalb; two sisters, Zula Hudson of Meridian and Ella Jane Grace of Daleville; 54 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
    GERALD R. HERRINGTON
    Services for Gerald R. Herrington will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m.
    Mr. Herrington, 69, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, in Port Richey, Fla.
    Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    LILLIE V. BARNEY
    Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Lillie V. Barney, 90, of Stonewall, who died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    EARNEST BLANKS
    Arrangements were incomplete at Clark's Memorial Funeral Home for Earnest Blanks, 51, of Bailey, who died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2001, in his home.
    DALTON PAYNE
    Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home of DeKalb for Dalton "Jack" Payne, 54, of Little Rock, who died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    GRADY DUKES
    Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for Grady Dukes who died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
