Wayne County Lady War Eagles move to 5-1

The Wayne County girls whipped Heidelberg 57-37 on Saturday night. The win moves the Lady War Eagles to 5-1 on the season.
Natalie Jordan led Wayne County with 24 points. Cathy Bartee had 17 points.
Princess Bender paced Heidelberg with 10 points.
In the boys game, Wayne won 67-54 to move to 2-0 on the season. John Gray had 27 points. Derrick Turner paced Heidelberg with 17.
Neshoba Cen. Boys 65,
Philadelphia 62
Neshoba Central won its season opener in boys basketball action on Saturday defeating rival Philadelphia 65-62.
Tavares Walker led the Rockets with 21 points. Philadelphia, 1-1, got a game high 25 points from Tellas Burnside. Mandrako Jackson chipped in 19.
Heritage Girls 57,
Kemper Academy 55
Kemper Academy fell to 1-2 on the season with the two-point loss against Heritage Academy. Blair Johnson led Kemper with 19 points. Whitney Jeffers had a game high 27 to lead Heritage.
Leake Girls 73,
Central Holmes 51
Kristin Caldwell scored a game high 34 points to lead the Leake Academy girls to the 22-point win over Central Holmes. Lauren Gross chipped in 20.
CHA was led by Joanna Howard with 22 points.
Winston girls 48,
Deer Creek 43
Katy White tossed in 14 points to lead Winston to a 48-43 win against Deer Creek. Erin Ard added 10 points. Deer Creek was led by Tracy Jones with 17 points.
Southeast Boys 90,
Clarkdale 75
The Southeast Lauderdale Tigers finished third Friday night at the Tip Off Classic, by knocking off Clarkdale 90-75.
Tigers over came a 39-35 halftime defict to claim the win.
The Tigers were led in scoring by Ben Reed. Reed put 31 points on the board for the Tigers as he had a big night behind the three point arch.Other scorers for the Tigers were LaPatrick Carlise14, and BB Brassfield with 10.
Clarkdale finished fourth, and they were led in scoring by Brandon Marby with 21, Bryant Gaddis 18,Rocky Kirksey 13, and Quinton Walker dropped 10.
Newton County Girls 58
Enterprise Girls 44
The Lady Cougars finished third in the Tip Off Classic, by defeating Enterprise 56-44.
Newton County had to overcome a two point set back at the halftime intermission to claim third place.
The 4-1 Lady Cougars were led in scoring by Kristin Chaney 22, Yolanda Johnson 11, and Dominique Mapp added eight.
The 0-7 Lady Bulldogs were led in scoring by Teela McBride 13, Shonda Bester12, and Kacey Jimmerson dropped eight.
