For three years Brad McNeil has been fighting as a pro and for three years he had never felt the sting of a defeat.
That occurred in his last bout and he, nor the fans in attendance at the Baton Rouge bout, were very happy about the result a decision in favor of McNeil's opponent.
But McNeil, 9-1-1 for his pro career, hopes to atone for some of that disappointment when he takes on veteran middleweight Billy Outlaw at the Frank Cochran Center on Thursday night.
Thursday night's bouts are set to begin at 7 p.m. and there will be at least six and possibly up to eight fights on the card. Tickets are $20, $12, $10 and $5 and can be purchased at Novus Glass Service at 420 Front Street Extension. The phone number is 485-8625. Several Meridian fighters will be on the card, which is subject to change.
Promoter David McNeil said he was also hoping to get a bout line up for local boxer Freddie Collins.
Brad McNeil will be putting his SEBF junior middleweight title up against Outlaw, who has a 18-22 record.
McNeil admitted that fighting a veteran like Outlaw was a little bit of a risk coming of a disappointing loss.
While McNeil respects journeyman boxers who keep on going despite their records, he said he has no plan to drag out a career that is not moving up.
