Information needed for book on veterans
A book is being prepared on the history of Neshoba County veterans who served during World War II. Information needed includes pictures and brief stories of the men and women who served.

MLT Guild to hold Fall Variety Shop
Meridian Little Theatre Guild is holding its Fall Variety Shop. The event is set for 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The theater is on Highway 39 North. For information, call 482-6371.
Public library hosts writing workshop
The Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library will host a free writing workshop from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the library.
Richelle Putnam, an award-wining author and instructor, will conduct the workshop. Putnam is the author of the children's book, "Fallout," and has won many writing awards.

Suqualena to host blood drives
Many communities across the nation turned out to donate blood after the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
That blood is now gone, and blood is needed by area hospital patients suffering from cancer and heart disease. United Blood Service officials are asking the public to take time to donate and help assure there will be blood available whenever emergencies occur in our area.
The Suqualena Community Club will sponsor a community blood drive at Macedonia Baptist Church Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Baptist Outreach Building.
Veteran's Day observances set
The Memory Tree Foundation invites the public to participate in Veteran's Day activities beginning Thursday. Yellow ribbons will be hung Thursday and Friday at the Doughboy Monument. The Veteran's Day Memorial Service is set for Sunday at 11 a.m. at the monument. The Veteran's Day parade will begin at 3 in the afternoon.
Retiree celebration set for Nov. 13
Meridian's 4th Annual Retiree Celebration is set for Nov. 13, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m., at Union Station. The event will include barbecue, door prizes and music from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Reservations are required by Friday and seating is limited.

Dr. Robert Berg to speak at meeting
Dr. Robert Berg will be the guest speaker at the The Caring Hands, Loving Heart Breast Cancer Support Group on Nov. 13. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Rush Clinic Building, fifth-floor lobby.

Pictures with Santa' available at F.W. Williams House
The annual "Pictures with Santa" at the F.W. Williams House will take place from noon-3 p.m. Sunday. Pictures will be taken in the parlor of the Victorian home and will feature an elaborately decorated Christmas tree, as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Photography will be provided by Wayne Rawson's Portrait Studio. Photo packages range from $20 to $35. The event is sponsored by the 1897 Daisies. Proceeds go toward maintenance of Merrehope and the F.W. Williams House.

Entry deadline for Christmas parade extended
The Meridian Downtown Association has extended the deadline to Nov. 16 for entry in the Christmas parade. Applications may be picked up at LaBiche Jewelers, Trustmark Bank, Loeb's, Liberty Shop, Wrangler Furniture, Harry Mayer, Caf Latte and Union Planters Bank.
The parade is set for Nov. 29. The theme of this year's parade is Rock n' Roll Christmas. The entry fee is $20 per unit.
Sta-Home Hospice holds training
Sta-Home Hospice will sponsor a volunteer training session from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday. The hospice is at 1622 24th Ave. For information, or to make reservations, call Freda Smith at 485-8489.
Meridian Civitan club holding fund-raiser
The Meridian Civitan Club is hosting their annual Claxton Fruit Cake sales drive. One pound cakes cost $3 at all Meridian banks, credit unions and Foodmax stores.
Money from the cakes benefit area organizations the club sponsors.
