Lauderdale County supervisors looked over plans Thursday prepared by a local engineering company for a recreational park at Lover's Lane.
Liz Dudley of Engineering Plus Inc. presented the proposal during the supervisors' work session. The plans include a large pavilion that would provide a roof for eight picnic tables and a restroom, renovation to the existing cabin, three other small pavilions with picnic tables, a quarter-mile track and additional parking spaces.
District 4 Supervisor Q.V. Sykes said he hopes to build the proposed recreational park next to the proposed baseball fields with interest earned from the county's 1999 recreational bond issue.
But District 5 Supervisor Ray Boswell said he was not told about the new project.
Sykes told Boswell, "The people of the county voted on this before you were even in office."
Sykes said the county currently has more than $1.5 million in its recreational fund to use for the proposed baseball fields and the park.
He also addressed a comment to District 3 Supervisor Craig Hitt.
