The holiday season is well under way at Kay Dickson's home.
Halloween decorations cover the front porch, living room, kitchen, den and hall but they're not heart-stoppingly scary. For the most part, the ghosts and goblins appear to be friendly. Some will even sing and dance for you.
Her holiday decorating season begins with Halloween. It is followed by Christmas, Mardi Gras and Easter.
Much of the downstairs area of her house is used for storing different sets of decorations. Some favorite decorations, such as her crystal, are displayed year-round, worked in as part of the seasonal displays.
She gets an assist from Sandy Singleton, who operates Mr. Charley's Balloons, Baskets and Birthdays.
Dickson was born and raised in Meridian. Her father, Babe Pearce, operated the RC Cola Plant in Meridian for years.
When Dickson was growing up, her family always decorated for the holidays.
She continued the family tradition of decorating, but got serious about it 12 years ago.
She is constantly on the outlook for new dolls and decorations.
