Steak-Out delivery man kidnapped, robbed

Meridian police said they have strong leads in the Thursday armed robbery and kidnapping of a Steak-Out delivery man.
The employee was making a delivery about 10 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 23rd Avenue and 25th Street area when two masked and armed black men jumped from the bushes and forced him into the back seat of his car, said Lt. Wade Johnson, Meridian Police Department spokesman.
One suspect got into the back seat with the victim and the other suspect drove the car to Highway 45 North at Old Marion Road, he said.
Johnson said the victim thought the guns might be pellet guns and began fighting with the suspect in the back seat. The driver pulled the car over, and had to help his accomplice get out of the back seat since child locks had been activated.
The two suspects were last seen fleeing into nearby woods. The robbers had taken the victim's wallet during the drive, Johnson said.
The victim was not injured during the struggle.
The armed robbery is one of more than 90 that have occurred since the beginning of the year. Both armed robbery and kidnapping carry possible life sentences in Mississippi.
