Knights try to get back in region race

West Lauderdale's next step in its quest for its first football playoff berth since 1984 is a Region 5-3A contest Friday night at Choctaw Central. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Knights are on a three-game skid and enter the contest with a 3-4 overall mark and a 1-2 record in Region 5-3A. The Knights lost 33-3 to Greene County last week.
Choctaw Central is 0-3 in the region and 3-4 overall after last week's 14-0 loss to Carthage.
Henry has rushed 64 times for 299 yards and eight touchdowns this fall. He is 21-of-48 in the air for 265 yards.
Warrior running back Giovann Dixon has 65 carries for a team-high 317 yards. Sam Farve has 259 yards on 54 carries with Robert Billy adding 258 yards and four touchdowns on 50 carries. Dixon has nine receptions for 70 yards, while Farve has six catches for 90 yards for Tommy McCool's squad.
The Knights will be without their starting quarterback, C. Jay Fountain, who suffered a separated shoulder against Greene County and is expected to be out two or three weeks at least, McCain said. Also out this week are a pair of starting defensive linemen with knee injuries.
McCain will at least have running back Carlessio Blanks available after he missed last week's game. He had over 300 all-purpose yards against Philadelphia two weeks ago.
The Knights won last year's game 21-7 at Collinsville with the Warriors taking a 34-29 victory in the 1999 contest on the Pearl River Reservation.
