Clarkdale, West Lauderdale take wins

The Clarkdale Lady Bulldogs took a 14-4 victory over St. Andrews in game one of the first round of the 2A playoffs Tuesday night while continuing with a 23-10 victory in game two.
The Lady Saints came out early and put two runs on the board in the top of the first inning in game one.
The Lady Bulldogs answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Clarkdale pushed in one more run in the second inning putting them up 4-2.
The Lady Saints took control in the top of the fifth inning putting up two more runs to tie the game at four.
The bottom of the fifth inning was an offensive awakening for the Lady Bulldogs as they put up nine runs.
Clarkdale put up one final run in the bottom of the sixth inning resulting in the game being called due to the 10- run rule.
The winning pitcher for the Lady Bulldogs was Emily Howard. She went 2-4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI's. Howard moves her record to 10-3 overall after both games.
Big hitters for the Lady Bulldogs in game one were JorD'an Orr (3-for-4), Ashley Satcher (double, 2 RBI's), Megan Potate (3-for-4, double, 3 RBI's), Kaylea Thrash (2-for-4, 2 RBI's), Brandi Wright (2-for-4, double), Sabrina Woodall (2-for-4, double, 2 RBI's), Savannah Satcher (3-for-4, RBI), Bethany Spidle (2-for-3, double, RBI), and Lindsay Dawkins (triple, RBI).
Clarkdale moved their overall record up to 19-10 after game one.
Game two began with four Clarkdale runs in the first inning. They followed with six more in the second.
The Lady Saints got five runs in the top of the third while Clarkdale got two more in the bottom of the fourth.
St. Andrew's got three in the fifth and two more in the top of the sixth.
Clarkdale capped off their night with seven runs in the sixth inning and four more in the seventh.
Multiple hitters for the Lady Bulldogs in game two were Orr (4-for-5, double, triple, home run), Ashley Satcher (3-for-5, 2 RBI's), Howard (3-for-6, 4 RBI's), Dawkins (3-for-4, 3 RBI's), Wright (3-for-6, double, RBI), Woodall (3-for-5, 5 RBI's), Sabrina Satcher (2-for-5, RBI), Brandi Limerick (3-for-5, double, RBI), and Spidle (3-for-5, double, 2 RBI's).
Other contributors were Potate (RBI), and Thrash (2 RBI's).
Clarkdale finished the night with an overall record of 20-6. They will match up with the winner of the St. John's-Seminary game Saturday in round two of the playoffs.
West Lauderdale beat Morton 15-3 in game one and 11-1 in game two in the first round of the 3A playoffs Tuesday night.
The winning pitcher for the Lady Knights was Jessica Ethridge.
The Lady Knights had 20 hits in game one. Multiple hitters were Christina Gardner (4-for-4, 4 RBI's), Amy Frazier (4-for-4), Amber Joyner (3-for-4), Courtney Godwin (3-for-4), and J.J. Huggins (3-for-4, 2 home runs).
The Lady Knights had 14 hits in game two. Multiple Lady Knight hitters were Frazier (3-for-3, 3 RBI's), Joyner (2-for-3), Huggins (2-for-3), and Ethridge (2-for-2).
West Lauderdale will face the winner of the Hazelhurst-Columbia game in round two of the playoffs.
