Meridian natives recognized for professional achievements

Dr. Donna Thomas Moses, formerly of Meridian, was recently awarded a fellowship in the American College of Dentists.
The American College of Dentists was founded in 1920 to recognize dentists who have made significant contributions to the advancement of dentistry.
Moses is president of the Medical College of Georgia Alumni Association of Periodontists, president-elect for the Northwestern District Dental Society, treasurer of the Georgia Society of Periodontics and a member of the House of Delegates for the Georgia Dental Association.
She is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Dental Association. She serves on the board of trustees at Oak Mountain Academy and is chairman of the Carroll County Dental Indigent Care Clinic and the Carollton Rotary Club. She recently became a board member of West Central Technical College School of Dental Hygiene, where she lectures on a part-time basis.
Moses is active in the curriculum at the L.D. Pankey Institute, a center for higher education in the field of dentistry. She is a periodontist in private practice in Carrollton, Ga.
She is the daughter of J.A. and Carolyn Thomas.
Mary Jennings, assistant to the director of publications at the University of North Alabama in Florence has been named to the 2001 College Media Advisers Honor Roll an award presented to a member with fewer than five years experience in college media advising.
Jennings will receive the award during the association's annual conference, Oct. 24-28 in New Orleans.
Army Reserve Pvt. Shaqetta L. Jennings has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, Jennings received instruction and practice in drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, the military justice system, physical fitness, basic first aid and Army values, principles and traditions.
She is the daughter of Gloria Jennings of Collinsville and Richard Jennings of Meridian, and a 1998 graduate of West Lauderdale High School.
