OBITUARIES FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2001

Services for Helen Carleen Griffin will be held today at 11 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Carl White and Clay Chancelor officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Fuston Cemetery in Walnut Grove with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Griffin, 61, of Meridian, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, in her home.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Joe Griffin, her daughter, Tammy Jo Jones and her husband, Brad, two grandchildren, Brice and Devin Jones, all of Meridian; her mother, Aileen Starling, and her brother, Thomas Starling and his wife, Betty, both of Walnut Grove; and two nieces, Sherry Seese and Melody Starling.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Starling.
There will be committal service today at 2:30 p.m. at the cemetery. Visitation is today from 9 a.m.10 a.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy McCay, Doug Neal, Elwood Vick, Tony Mills, Raymond McKinnon and Jerry Townsend.

Services for Arthur Lee McDonald will be held today at 1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Collinsville with the Rev. Timothy McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McDonald, 55, of Collinsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Marie McDonald of Collinsville; two daughters, Amy Davis and her husband, the Rev. Chester Davis Jr., of Meridian and Kimberly M. McDonald of Collinsville; a son, Timothy McDonald and his wife, Amanda, of Ft. Wainwright, Ark.; his mother, Lula McDonald, and a sister, Shirley Jackson, both of Collinsville; three brothers, Joe Lee McDonald of Meridian, John Henry McDonald of Collinsville, and Billy Joe McDonald of Birmingham, Ala.; three grandchildren, a niece, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.

QUITMAN Services for Derrick Brock will be held today at 2 p.m. at Berry &Gardner Funeral Home in Quitman. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Pachuta.
Mr. Brock, 23, of Cincinnati, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, in Cincinnati.
GLADYS WILLIAMS
Services for Gladys Williams will be held today at 2 p.m. at Berry &Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin A. Carter officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Shucktown.
Ms. Williams, 53, of Chicago,, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, in Chicago.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Simpson, and three brothers, Robert Williams, Danny Williams and Billy Wayne Williams, all of Meridian.
MARIE PEEPLES ELMORE

PHILADELPHIA Services for Marie Peeples Elmore will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Philadelphia with the Rev. David Hamm officiating. Burial will be in Tucker Cemetery in Philadelphia with McClain-Hays Funeral Service Inc. in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Elmore, 73, of Cuba, Ala., died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in her home.
She was born in Winston County and reared in the Tucker Community of Neshoba County. She had been a resident of Cuba., Ala., since 1959. She was retired from Vanity Fair in Demopolis, Ala. She was Catholic by faith and attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Livingston, Ala.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Howington and her husband, Belon, of Union and a son, Charles Elmore of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Elmore, in 1994.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m.8 p.m. at the funeral home. A rosary will be said at the church at 6 p.m. Sunday.
HOWARD L. BLACKWELL
Retired owner of Blackwell's Grocery and Meat Market
Services for Howard L. Blackwell will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Artie Burnett, Earl Wheatley and Wallace Terry officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Blackwell, 75, of Collinsville, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in Collinsville.
He was a longtime member of North Park Church and most recently was a member of Pine Grove Church. He was a WWII veteran and an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a most loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Burnett and her husband, the Rev. Artie Burnett, of Columbus, Ohio; and Donna Jackson and her husband, Brent, of Collinsville; five sons, Rick Blackwell and his wife, Kathy, and Steve Blackwell and his wife, Carol, all of Meridian, Bernie Herrington and his wife, Pam, of Brandon, Tony Herrington and his wife, Wanda, and Hal Herrington and his wife Tammy, all of Collinsville; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Lavon Blackwell, and two sisters, Mary Fisher and Janice Garrett, all of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Kate Blackwell, two wives, Helen E. Blackwell and Bettye J. Blackwell, and a sister, Earline Lee.
Pallbearers will be David Blackwell, Corey Blackwell, Stephen Blackwell, Michael Jackson, Tim Burnett and Robert Monsour.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 p.m.5 p.m. at the funeral home.
