COLLINSVILLE West Lauderdale High School juniors and seniors recently had an opportunity to interview local business and industry representatives at Career Day on the school campus.
Business people gave their time on Sept. 27 to give students direction in their career choices. The students asked questions about specific job fields; they also completed a questionnaire for their English classes.
West Lauderdale is part of the Tech Prep Initiative in Mississippi. It is intended to help students more effectively make the transition from school to career.
Attention is focused on the identified "Occupational Clusters." Those are: agriculture and natural resources, arts and humanities, business and marketing, engineering and industry and health and human services.
Students were enthusiastic as they questioned the guests about fields that included medicine, financial planning and engineering. Career Day was organized through the Career Center on campus.
The center is open for use by the public. Anyone can call the center at 737-5155 or find it on the Web at: www.strato.net/~w3800161/career1.htm.

Marty Cheeks, physical therapist.
Jimmy Doolittle, pharmacist.
Laura Fitzgerald, registered nurse.
Joe Fortson, business owner-mechanic.
Ilydia Hall, financial planner.
Rex Lewis, engineer.
David Linder, attorney.
Jeff Mangrum, wildlife biologist.
