OBITUARIES FOR SATURDAY, SEPT. 22, 2001

PHILADELPHIA Services for James Lamar Files will be held today at 10 a.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel with the Revs. Ray Files and John Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Coye Assembly of God Cemetery.
Mr. Files, 62, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Choctaw Residential Center.
Survivors include three sisters, Ollie Sue Easterwood of Noxapater, Joyce Williamson and Barbara Sullivan, both of Philadelphia; three brothers, Oliver Files Jr. and Leon Files, both of Philadelphia, and Charles Files of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Baysinger Files.

MOSS POINT Services for Vanessa Lynn Owenby will be held today at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Springs Assembly of God Church in Hurley with the Revs. All Roever, Norman Busby and Jerry Goff officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Springs Cemetery with Holder-Wells Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Owenby, 40, of Hurley, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, in Pascagoula. She was born July 18, 1961, in Meridian. Mrs. Owenby was the children's church minister at Magnolia Springs Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Owenby, three sons, Jason Owenby and his wife, Brandi, Justin Owenby and Jamison Owenby, all of Hurley; her parents, James W. and Patricia Nell Joiner of Moss Point; a brother, James Joiner and his wife, Debra, of Lucedale; grandparents, Lorene and Nathan Hill of Meridian; two devoted friends, Jan Bowman of Hurley and Wendy Porter of Wade.
She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first grandchild, Layton Owenby in October.
Pallbearers will be David Porter, Danny Evans, Jackie Owenby, Eugene Bowman, Charlie Owenby and Ronnie Pierce.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Bert Nowell will be held today at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Don Savell and Steve Craft officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
Mr. Nowell, 79, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include his wife, Mittie Nowell of Philadelphia; a daughter, Debbie Savell of Brandon; and two grandsons.

QUITMAN Memorial services for Dougal Helton Carmichael will be held today at 3 p.m. at Geneva Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Phillip McRae officiating. Burial will be in Horn Cemetery with Wright's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Carmichael, 70, of Marietta, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001. He was past president of the Clan Carmichael and Habitat for Humanity team leader.
Survivors include his wife, Tommie Ann Carmichael, a son, Scott Douglas Carmichael and a daughter, Alana Carmichael Nigro, four grandchildren, Heather Parker, Adrea Nigro, Rich Nigro and Carlie Nigro, all of Marietta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Clan Carmichael USA Memorial Roof Fund, c/o Arthur Carmichael Jr., 1585 Grant Rd., Los Altos, CA 94024.
HATTIE CLARK

Services for Hattie Clark will be held today at 2 p.m. at Sunlight Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Howell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Clark, 89, of Meridian, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, in her home.
Survivors include four daughters, Legurtha Drake and her husband, Robert, of Meridian, Loretta Williams, Carrie Carraway and her husband, Joe, both of Arlington, Texas, and Alice Chapman of Jackson; four sons, Marshall Clark and his wife, Mary, of Huntsville, Ala., Willie E. Clark of San Francisco, Otha Clark of Beeville, Texas, and Ronnie Clark of Dallas; two sisters, Allie Freney and Alice Nash, both of Phoenix; 40 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
