OBITUARIES FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19, 2001

HERMAN ALEXANDER SHIELDS JR.

Graveside services for Herman Alexander Shields Jr. will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Harrison officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Shields, 64, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Optimist Club and Hamasa Temple. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Shields, three children, Alexa Marcello and her husband, Walt, Alex Shields III and Ashley Shields, a sister, Nell Shields McMullen and her husband, Murph, and his father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Ruth Hoy, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Sadie Shields, Michael and Joseph Marcello; two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman A. Shields Sr. and Nelly Smiley Shields.
The family requests memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Thursday 30 minutes prior to the service at the cemetery.
BEVERLY GRIFFIN
MOBILE, Ala. Services for Beverly Griffin will be held today at 11 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery with Pine Crest Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Griffin, a native of Meridian, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, in her home in Mobile.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Griffin of Mobile; four daughters, Sandra Blakeney and her husband, David, of Huntsville, Carla Bilbrey and her husband, Douglas, of Mobile, Denise Griffin of Foley and Angela Fant and her husband, Alan, of Mobile; a sister, Elsie Griffin and a brother, Edward Smith, both of Mobile; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
LURIE T. CAMERON
QUITMAN Services for Lurie T. Cameron will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with the Rev. Advial McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in Gilfield Cemetery in Pushmataha, Ala., with Turner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cameron, 69, of Quitman, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, in her home.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Lee Cameron of Quitman; five daughters, Patricia Cameron of Quitman, Sylvia Wainwright of Racine, Wis., Gwinnette Dixon of Huntsville, Ala., Paula Philon of Quitman and Daphne of Kenner, La.; five sisters, Louise Willis of Lisman, Ala., Lonnie Johnson and Pearl May of Akron, Ohio, Ethel Jackson of Detroit, Mich., Dannie Tracy of Akron and Catherine Harrls of Chicago; two brothers, Bennie Tucker of Detroit and Willie C. Tucker of Meridian; eight grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
KENNEDI ANDREA MARIE CLEMONS
Services for Kennedi Andrea Marie Clemons will be held Friday at noon at Blues Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Wash officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Seven-month-old Kennedi died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, in Scooba.
Survivors include her father, Darius Clemons of Philadelphia; grandparents, Melissa and L.C. Clemons and David and Bertha Midcalf of Scooba; and a great-great-grandmother, Lue Jester Campbell of Shuqualak.
Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
COURTNEY SHAVON MIDCALF
Services for Courtney Shavon Midcalf will be held Friday at noon at Blues Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Wash officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Midcalf. 18, of Scooba, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, in Scooba.
Survivors include her mother, Bertha Midcalf and her father, David Midcalf, both of Scooba; a brother, Kevin Campbell and his wife, Valerie, of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Kimberly Smith and her husband, Michael, of Meridian; and her great-grandmother, Lue Jester Campbell of Shuqualak.
Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for Louvenia Ware, of Union, who died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Magnolia Personal Care in Union.
