DEKALB Enterprise took advantage of early Kemper County penalties and turnovers to take a convincing 38-6 road victory over the homestanding Wildcats at L.B. Mitchell Field.
Even though the Bulldogs won by a tremendous margin, Enterprise only managed 250 yards in total offense on the evening.
Every yard came on the ground for the Bulldogs as the old-fashioned Enterprise running game was in effect. Kemper County was plagued by two turnovers to give Enterprise a quick lead.
The first miscue came on a fumble by the Wildcats as junior Colter Cannington came up with the turnover. Cannington then scored the touchdown for Enterprise from four yards out. Michael Swancey added the point after to make the score 7-0 with just over four minutes left in the period.
Enterprise came up with a blocked punt by Michael Grace on the next series to set up yet another score for the Bulldogs. Cannington scored on a one-yard touchdown run and the kick was perfect as EHS had a 14-0 lead with 11:56 remaining in the first half of the game.
The problems continued for the Wildcats as Enterprise blocked another punt. This time, Zeb Swain claimed the block to give the offense another shot. The great night for Cannington continued as he scored from three yards to put the Bulldogs up 20-0 after a missed extra point with 9:24 left in the second quarter.
Kemper once again coughed up the football as Davieon Dixon snagged an interception and returned it 37 yards to set up another Cannington score. This time Cannington crossed the plane from three yards out to increase the Enterprise lead 26-0. The Bulldogs completed the big half with a four yard touchdown from Dixon to send the game to halftime with the visiting Bulldogs lead 32-0.
Enterprise picked up right where it left off to start the second half. Kelly Jimmerson scored on a huge 35-yard touchdown run to give the Bulldogs the big 38-0 lead with 10:35 left in the third quarter.
Kemper County had one bright spot on the evening as Omarion Backstrom scrambled 57 yards for the only score for the Wildcats as Enterprise took the 38-6 win.
Enterprise improved to a perfect 3-0 record on the season and Kemper dropped to 0-3. The Bulldogs return home next week as Enterprise will host Raleigh and Kemper County travels to Bay Springs.
