By By Josh Taylor/The Meridian Star
Sept. 12, 2001
The Clarkdale Lady Bulldogs hammered the Taylorsville Lady Tartars with a 10-0 shutout win Tuesday night.
Lady Bulldog pitcher Emily Howard came very close to a no-hitter in Clarkdale's victory. Taylorsville Hope Dedmon got a single in the fourth inning which would be the Tartar's only hit.
Howard also had one RBI.
The Bulldogs first score came in the first inning off a sacrifice hit by Howard. Clarkdale's next two runs were from a hard hit double off the bat of JorD'an Orr.
The Bulldogs flew into a fourth inning blowout, starting with two runs from a triple by Savannah Satcher.
Another run came off a single by Bethany Spidle. Megan Potate slammed in one more RBI off a double.
The inning closed out with two RBI's off a Ashley Satcher single and one more from Kaylea Thrash's double.
Leading hitters for the Bulldogs were Orr (3-3, double), Ashley Satcher (2-3, two RBI's), Brandi Limrick (2-2), Savannah Satcher (2-2, triple, two RBI's), and Spidle (2-2, RBI).
Help also came from such Bulldogs as Potate (double, RBI) and Thrash (double, RBI).
The game was called half way through the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule. There was a break in the bottom of the fourth as the stadium lights went out and had to cool down before coming back on.
The Bulldogs pull even with a 7-7 record and 1-0 in district play. They look ahead to a Thursday night game at Choctaw Central.
