Meridian to host Babe Ruth state tourney

Meridian will be the host site of the Babe Ruth 13-year-old State Tournament that begins July 20 at Scaggs Field on the Meridian Community College campus.
Meridian will be represented by many of the same team members that competed in the 2000 Cal Ripken, Jr. World Series last summer.
The winner of the state tourney will advance to the regional tournament in Del Rio, Texas and an opportunity to play in the Babe Ruth World Series in Wilson, N.C. Meridian is trying to get back to the World Series for the second time.
