Meridian police say two guests at the Econo Lodge at 2405 South Frontage Road were robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night.
Lt. Wade Johnson said officers received the call at 9:45 p.m. The Louisiana couple was robbed as they tried to enter their room from the outside walkway, he said.
Johnson said the two suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money, but no one was harmed during the robbery.
He said the couple made statements today at the police department. A better description will probably be available after their statements are taken, Johnson said, but a preliminary description has been released.
Both are described as black males who wore black masks, white T-shirts and dark jeans. One was reported to be about 6 feet tall and the other more than 5 feet tall.
Johnson said there have been several parking lot robberies in the North and South Frontage Road areas, as well as the robbery of Ryan's Family Steak House in late June.
Residents with information can call the Meridian Police Department at 485-1859 or CrimeStoppers 485-1860.
