Meridian Day' in New Orleans

By Staff
Aug. 22, 2001
The day-long trip to New Orleans by a small group of city officials and tourism professionals was a cooperative effort of the Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau, radio station B-93 The Buzz and the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation. They hosted a lunch at the Hall of Blues, visited with some Louisiana tourism folks and got a chance to promote Meridian while the Saints played the Dallas Cowboys.
The idea apparently originated as part of a radio promotional campaign to help the Saints build their market in Mississippi. But marketing works both ways and at least Meridian officials took advantage of the opportunity.
Experts in the multi-billion-dollar field of tourism know that an on-going marketing program is essential to success. Hopefully, local tourism officials will continue to tout Meridian and Lauderdale County as interesting places to visit.
