OBITUARIES FOR MONDAY, AUG. 20, 2001

WILMA VANCE
UNION Services for Wilma Vance will be held today at 2 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Laird officiating. Burial will be in Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Vance, 85, of Union, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Vance of Little Rock and Bobby Vance of Mendenhall; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Vance; and a son, Billy Vance.
HAROLD C. LONG
Retired from Thomas Hayward Chemical Company
PHILADELPHIA Services for Harold C. Long will be held today at 3 p.m. at John E. Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. John Stephens and Kim Roe officiating. Burial will be in Sandtown Cemetery.
Mr. Long, 78, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Mississippi Veterans Nursing Home in Kosciusko. He was a veteran of World Ward II, serving the the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Long, two sons, David A. Brown and Terry A. Brown, two sisters, Earline Eubanks and Christine Higginbotham and two brothers, Lewis Long and Jay Long, all of Philadelphia; two daughters, Sandra Jones of Philadelphia and Laverne Manos of Kansas City; six grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark E. Brown.
LUTHER TILTON CLARK
Retired from Mississippi Department of Transportation
MACON Services for Luther Tilton Clark will be held today at 3 p.m. at Butler Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Bobby Joe Butler and Gerald Butler officiating. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery with Cockrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Clark, 79, of Shuqualak, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Christeen Clark of Shuqualak; a daughter, Marjorie Eaves of Demopolis; three sons, Willie "Bud" Clark and Joe Clark, both of Shuqualak, and Billy Clark of Macon; a sister, Lois Sullivan of Louisville; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Samuel and Lena Bell Butler Clark.
ETHEL JOHNSON STEED
Fancy Faces Tile Company employee
NEWTON Services for Ethel Johnson Steed will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Anderson, Dave Glinke and Steve Hamble officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Steed, 65, of Mandeville, La., died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, in her home. She was a native of Lauderdale County and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Abita Springs, La.
Survivors include her husband, Charles "Buddy" Steed of Mandeville; two daughters, Brenda Carey O'Dwyer and her husband, Jules, of Mandeville and Vickie Glinka and her husband, David, of Niceville, Fla.; two sisters, Ella Mae Rainer of Chunky and Mary Bufkin of Hickory; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Mable Moore Johnson; and a sister, Louise Bishop.
Pallbearers will be Larry Rainer, Charles Rainer, Brian Jenkins, Bobby North, James Rainer and Cayce Wayne Bufkin.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
ALICIA HOOVER
Northeast High School student
Memorial services for Alicia Hoover will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Scarbrough officiating. Burial will be in New York.
Miss Hoover, 16, of Meridian, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, in Lauderdale County. She was a member of Northeast Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Pam Tarver and her husband, Paul, of Meridian; her father, Mark Hoover and his wife, Roberta, of Horseheads, N.Y.; a brother, Daniel Hoover of Horseheads; two stepsisters, Shannon and Tanya Rafferty; a stepbrother, Billy Facey; her grandparents, Lee and Vivian Robbins of Horseheads, Daniel and Alice Tarver of Jackson, Norm Hoover of Horseheads, Randy and Jo Ann Dayton of New York and Geraldine and Robert Clark of Horseheads; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family requests memorials be made to Hope for Children or the Wesley House.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Robert Posey, 79, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian.

Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton for Winfred Durward Danials, 70, of Little Rock, who died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, in his home.

Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for Patricia Alvarez who died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Heartfelt Hospice.
