No. 1 West girls pick up three wins

NEW HOPE The No. 1 ranked West Lauderdale Lady Knights breezed through the New Hope Invitational Saturday as they picked up three wins to up their record to 5-0.
In the first game, the Lady Knights defeated Tupelo 13-2. West scored six in the first, one in the second, one in the fourth and one in the fifth. West outhit Tupelo, 13-2.
Jessica Ethridge led the Lady Knights at the plate and on the mound. She went 3-for-3 as a batter and struck out three while allowing no walks as the pitcher. J.J. Huggins hit a home run and Brittany Mosley went two-for-three.
In the second game, West blanked Starkville 10-0. West scored three in the third, three in the fourth and four in the sixth. The Lady Knights outhit the Yellow Jackets 8-3.
In the final game of the day, West defeated Columbus 15-4. The Lady Knights scored one in the first, one in the second, five in the third, three in the fourth and five in the sixth. Columbus scored three in the fourth and one the sixth.
West outhit Columbus 17-6. Kristina Gardner led the Lady Knights with three home runs and five RBI. Amy Frazier went three for four. She hit a home run and brought in five RBI. Huggins hit a homer and Hayley Scarborough went two-for-three.
West will be back in action Thursday night when the Lady Knights host Meridian.
