Heavy rains cause minor power outages

By Staff
Aug. 18, 2001
About 500 Mississippi Power Co. customers across Meridian went without power Friday night when a batch of strong thunderstorms moved through East Central
Mississippi.
Power was restored to most residents within an hour, Mississippi Power spokesman Kurt Brautigam said.
More than 700 Mississippi Power customers in the Enterprise, Pachuta and Shubuta areas of Clarke County also went without power for about an hour. Brautigam said their power was restored quickly.
The bad weather downed some trees in rural areas of Lauderdale and Clarke counties. Deputies with the sheriff's departments in both counties said they had received no reports of
property damage or injuries.
