USM Eagles begin two-a-days today

HATTIESBURG – With veteran players on hand and after getting strength and conditions tests behind them Wednesday, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will start full-squad, two-a-day workouts today.
Strength and Conditioning Coach Charley Dudley said Wednesday's results were the second best in Golden Eagle history. "We had 91 percent of the players coming back to pass the endurance test," he said. "This is the second-best showing we've had in the five years I've been here, second only to last year's 93 percent. Anytime you get above 90 percent, that's really doing well.
Junior linebacker Chris Langston (Cape Coral, Fla.) led all players in the bench press rep test with 26 reps of the 225-pound weight. Senior offensive lineman Nathan Grace (Ocean Springs, Miss.) finished one behind Langston, and four other players tied at 23 reps each.
In the vertical leap test, junior linebacker Joe Henley (Gainesville, Fla.) jumped 40 inches, a half inch better than sophomore defensive end Terrell Paul (Troy, Ala.). Four other players had jumps of 38 inches.
