HATTIESBURG Carrie Covington of Meridian will be a member of the University of Southern Mississippi varsity cheerleading squad for this fall.
Covington, 21, a junior architectural design major, is the daughter of Jimmy and Sidney Covington of Meridian.
The cheerleading squad performs at USM football games, basketball games, soccer games, volleyball games and pep rallies.

MOBILE, Ala. Incoming freshmen will be "Ram-Rushed" during their first week at the University of Mobile this fall. "Ram Rush" will replace the former "Off to College Week" festivities that give freshmen their first taste of college life.
Greg Joiner, a junior athletic training major from Collinsville, Miss., will work with eight to 12 freshmen, helping them adjust to college.
Joiner is also active as a member of Campus Ministries and the university soccer team. He is a 1998 graduate of West Lauderdale High School and the son of Jackie and Lynn Joiner of Collinsville.
