The Clarkdale Lady Bulldogs have been going through two-a-days during the past week as they gear up for their slow-pitch softball season opener at home Saturday.
Clarkdale opens with games against Quitman High School, and then tangles with Union later in the day.
Clarkdale is coming off a 26-12 season that saw the Lady Bulldogs advance to South State in the playoffs. Roberson said the team had a good offseason workout program but did not play summer ball as a team as they have in the past.
First baseman Ashley Satcher is the only returning senior starter on the team. Other returning starters include Emily Watson at left field, Bethany Spidle and Emily Howard in the outfield, Meagan Potate at shortstop and Brandi Wright at second base. Roberson added that three eighth graders will be playing this year."
The games against Quitman will be at 11 a.m. and noon, while the Union games will start at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
