Ellen Nicole Weems and Stephen Derek Berry were married Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Ala., with the Rev. Alan Teel officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Laura Tillman of Meridian and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Weems of Lawrence. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Weems of Lawrence and the late George Cook of Heidelberg.
Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Watt of Dothan, Ala., and Gregg Berry of Andalusia, Ala. He is the grandson of Nell Berry of Andalusia and the late Robert L. Berry and the late Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Stephens of Red Level, Ala.
A program of wedding music was presented by Bill Taylor, pianist; Keith Stephens, trumpeter; and Marc Hall, soloist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white gown of embroidered organza featuring a sleeveless bodice with a dropped waistline. Bugle beads and seed pearls complemented the Venice lace. The full skirt was appliqued in beaded Schiffli embroidery that enhanced the border of the chapel-length train.
Delwin Ricketson of Louin attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sonya McLaney of Geneva, Ala., sister of the bridegroom, Connie Teel of Starkville, cousin of the bride, Tracy Guyse of Newton, Gretchen Baker of Anniston and Amy Bond of Birmingham, Ala.
Junior bridesmaid was Hali Holland of Geneva, niece of the bridegroom. Kellcie Burch of Tuscaloosa served as flower girl.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen were Justin Benefield and Wil Halford of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jon Dix, Marc Hall and Brad Hayes, all of Dothan, Ala. Ring bearers were Dalton and Dayton Ricketson, nephews of the bride.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The University Club. After a honeymoon in Colorado, the couple resides in Burlington, Iowa.
