MSU's road game at Florida sold out
STARKVILLE  The Mississippi State athletic ticket office has announced it has sold its allotment of football tickets to the game at Florida, Sept. 29, and that the game is a sellout in Gainesville, Fla.
The contest, MSU's first road game of the 2001 season, is the Bulldogs' third sellout this season. It joins previously announced home sellouts against LSU (Oct. 20) and Ole Miss (Nov. 22),
The only remaining season tickets available are approximately 500 of the new club level seats, which can be purchased for $1,000 per seat plus the cost of the ticket.
Prather, Taylor both Thorpe finalists
A pair of in-state college football players have been chosen as Top 10 finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation's top defensive back.

Prather (6-2, 195) is a consensus preseason first-team All-SEC candidate and was named to the 2001 preseason Playboy All-America team in April.
Prather becomes the second straight Bulldog defensive back to receive lofty consideration from the Thorpe Award voters, joining MSU cornerback Fred Smoot, who was one of three finalists for the award last fall.
Taylor (6-0, 205) was chosen to the 2001 preseason All-SEC first team by the Birmingham News and also received preseason All-SEC recognition from Lindy's and Southeastern Post.
