Shirley, Williams

The Episcopal Church of the Mediator was the setting for the Saturday, June 2, 2001, wedding of Hayley Dawn Williams and Dr. Harvey Miles Shirley Jr. The Rev. Dr. D. Fredrick Lindstrom Jr. of Greenville, Ala., conducted the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Duffee Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Shirley, of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Langford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Terrell Williams, all of Meridian.
Dr. Shirley is the grandson of Betty Menton Kimbrell, Laura Kimbrell Bass and the late Roland Kimbrell, all of Meridian, and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Shirley Sr. of Quitman.
A program of nuptial music was provided by the Mediator Choir, Dr. Chris Jenkins, organist; and Sue Shoffiet, flautist.
Geraldine R. Holloday served as verger and Revis Ray Joiner II served as thurifer. Acolytes were Guy Brad Feltenstein, Alexander Roland Kimbrell and Allen Reid Kimbrell. Lectors were Kathy Langford Brookshire and Dorothy Carr Reeves.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory French tulle and Douppioni silk. Braided pearl and silk trim outlined the portrait neckline and bodice. Complementing the gown was a fingertip-length veil of ivory tulle falling from a headpiece of porcelain roses and pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of porcelaina wedding roses hand tied with ivory tulle.
Shelley Williams McCraw of Meridian attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Tyler Lott Armstrong of Jackson, Kimberly Shirley Bolin of McLean Va., sister of the bridegroom, Mary Ellen Hembree of Pensacola Fla., Heather Anne Irby of Little Rock, Ark., Cathy Still Johnson of Birmingham, Ala., Angela Ramsey Meyer of Atlanta, Cynthia Shirley McGinnis and Elizabeth Menton McGinnis of Meridian, sister and niece of the bridegroom.
Sarah Claire McCraw and Caroline Kimbrell McGinnis of Meridian, nieces of the bride and bridegroom, served as flower girls.
Honorary bridesmaids were Heather Skillings Higginbotham of Mariette Ga., Jessica Abston Necaise of Covington, La., Ashley Sims Sanfilipio of Winter Park, Fla., Suzy Yarbrough Sims and Shelia Gibbs Uithoven, both of Meridian.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen were Prentiss Wayne Bolin Jr. of McLean Va., brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Christopher Scott Brown of Hernando, Aubert Randall Kimbrell of Alexandria Va., Charles Adrienne Ray IV of Huntsville, James Earl McGinnis, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, John Davis McGinnis, nephew of the bridegroom, George Williams Uithoven, Langford Duffee Williams, brother of the bride, and John Dewin Ziller III, all of Meridian.
Ushers were Brian Neville Brookshire of College Station, Texas, and Wilson Cooper Brookshire of Meridian.
A reception was held at Meridian Little Theatre following the ceremony.
After a wedding trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple resides in Meridian.
