QUITMAN After years of discussion, the H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital building will be getting a new roof.
The Clarke County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved E.Cornell Malone Roofing's low bid of $279,811 at Monday's meeting. Daniels Roofing Co. filed the second lowest bid at $290,585, while Interstate Roofing Inc., was third with a bid of $292,200.
The work is being paid for by a Community Development Block Grant and work could begin later this month.
Supervisors had a busy day, covering several matters. They heard a report from the state auditor's office, which conducted the annual county audit this year.
In other matters, supervisors:
Agreed to send deputy Gary Kelly to the Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pearl;
Agreed to furnish the labor to pave parking lots belonging to the Quitman and Enterprise school districts. The districts will furnish the materials;
Agreed to send several court house employees to a computer seminar in Hattiesburg on Thursday to learn how to work a new bookkeeping system which will be required by the state next year;
