MAD dominates Meridian Invitational

The Mississippi Aquatic Dogfish went wire-to-wire in claiming the Meridian Invitational Swim Meet Sunday, winning by nearly 300 points at the Highland Park pool.
Delta State University Aquatics finished with 616 points for a distant second, while The South MS Surf placed third with 563 points.
Host Meridian Swim Association took fifth with 338 points among the 16 teams competing in the Long Course meet.
Over 300 swimmers from three states competed in the three-day event.
Christie Vaughn was the lone first place finisher for Meridian Sunday. The 15-year-old won the 50m free style with a time of 30.40. Vaughn also finished third in the 200m IM with a time of 2:49. 13 and placed fourth in the 400m freestyle (5:18.55) and 100m breast stroke (1:32.51).
MSA's Holly Corbitt, 11, finished third in the 100m breast stroke at 1:36.87. She also took fifth in the 200m freestyle (2:40.85).
Katie Fletcher, Emily Roland, Chesney Todder and Brittany Moore place fourth in the U-10 200m medley relay.
Among the MSA boys, Michael Gray, coming off three first place finishes Saturday, followed up that performance with a pair of runner-up finishes Sunday.
Gray, 17, was second in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:32.32 and posted a time of 2:35.33 to take second in the 200m backstroke. He also placed fourth in the 50m freestyle (26.69) and fourth in the 200m IM (2:28.86).
David Moody had a fourth place showing in the 100m breast stroke with a time of 1:26. 39. Moody, Gray, Josh Coleman and Matt Snyder teamed to place third in the 400m medley relay (6:41.19).
Coleman, 14, managed a third place finish in the 50m freestyle (35:09).
Austin Moody, 9, finished fourth in the 50m backstroke with a time of 48.68 and also placed fourth in the 50m freestyle (59.75). He also had a seventh place showing in the 100m breast stroke (2:00.83).
The Meridian Invitational is the final qualifier for the State Long Course Championships to be held in two weeks at Delta State University.
