Meridian will be the host site of a state qualifying swim meet this weekend at the Highland Park Swimming Pool.
Nearly 300 swimmers and their families from across the state and parts of Alabama will be competing in the annual Meridian Invitational Swim Meet that begins today and wraps up Sunday.
Some of the larger summer swim teams expected to participate include Starkville, Columbus, Tupelo, Tuscaloosa and Birmingham.
Following the Meridian meet, teams will be getting ready for the State Long Course Championships that will be held July 28-29 at the Delta State University Aquatic Center in Cleveland.
