PEER committee queries county print shop

The Joint Committee on Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review is asking for information about the Lauderdale County School District's print shop.
Superintendent David Little confirmed Thursday that he received the request for information a couple of weeks ago. It asks for the facility's location, the total cost of running the operation, its efficiency and what material is printed.
Dr. Janet McLin announced earlier this week that a PEER committee had requested much the same information about the Meridian Public School District.
Little said the request is "no big deal."
Lauderdale County's print shop is located in G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Industrial Park. Little said it has been in operation for at least 30 years. The facility prints student handbooks, staff directories, policy manuals, tests and other items for the district's nine campuses.
The print shop employees one full-time worker, Frankie Clayton, and a part-time assistant. The print shop is under the supervision of Keith Lewis, the district's director of operations.
Responses from both school districts are due later this month.
