Key places second in junior golf tourney

Easton Key of Meridian shot a 44 to take second place in the Mississippi Junior Golf Association's 11-under division at Bay Pointe at Brandon last week.
Making the finish even better is the fact that Key is only nine years old.
Dearman-Hollingsworth win at QCC: Jason Dearman and Cindy Hollingsworth teamed to take first place in the recent mixed scramble at Quitman Country Club.
Hodges leads in MGA Player of the Year standings: Michael Hodges of Tupelo has a 100 point lead over Rett Crowder of Jackson in the Mississippi Golf Association Player of the Year standings through July 3.
Hodges had 532.5 points to Crowder's 432.5.
The top local golfer is Judge Little of Meridian whose 102.5 points is good for 11th place.
Dan Angero of Meridian is in 19th place, while Doyle Bryan was No. 20.
Farm Bureau Invitational set for Beau Pre': Beau Pre' Country Club in Natchez will be the site of the Farm Bureau Invitational Golf Tournament July 20-22.
Only two years old, Beau Pre' will showcase the state's top professional and top amateur golfers.
The total purse for professional and amateur golfers is $30,000.
Robert Autry is the defending champion with Rett Crowder having won in 1999.
Boys' Junior State Am at MSU: The 2001 Mississippi Golf Association Boys' State Junior Amateur is slated for July 31-Aug. 2 at the Mississippi State University Golf Course at Starkville.
All contestants are required to walk.
Ages 14-15 and 16-17 will play three 18-hole rounds. Entry fee for both groups is $35.
Ages 12-13 will play two 18-hole rounds. Entry fee is $35.
Ages 11-under will play two nine-hole rounds. Entry fee is $25.
Contestants may play up one age group if they so desire.
