Former Meridian resident Kelly Jones has been named Miss Alabama 2001.

Her honors include winner of the John Ireland Musical Competition and a finalist in the LaGrange Young Artists Competition.
A graduate of Lamar High School, Jones received a bachelor of music degree in piano performance from Samford University. She is currently a graduate student in music education at the University of Alabama. Her career ambition is to own and manage a multi-faceted music school.
