Promoting wholesome family fun' at the rodeo

By By Fredie Carmichael/The Meridian Star
June 29, 2001
Jerry Griffin has been involved in rodeos his whole life. But he said a commitment to family prompted him to start his own rodeo company, 3G Rodeo Company.
Another way his company differs from others is that 3G uses its own stock for the events.
Events start at noon with the 4-D barrel run and continue on through the night. The main event  open bull riding  gets under way at 7:30 p.m.
The Griffin family teamed up with WMER "Solid Gospel" to help promote and do a live broadcast of the event. "I really wanted to work with a Christian radio station," Griffin said.
The idea for starting his own company came when he overheard someone leaving a rodeo years back and complaining about the lack of youth involved.
Griffin is just one of the G's in the 3G Rodeo Co. The other two are his sons, Kevin and Jeff, who help put the rodeos together. But as Jerry explains, the whole Griffin family chips in.
Tickets are $5 and a special $2 discount will be given to each person in a church group consisting of 10 or more people. Call Jerry Griffin at 727-4598 for more information.
