Meridian firefighters were called out a second time in six hours to a 17th Avenue home early Friday morning, but officials don't know yet if the blaze re-ignited or if it was a new fire that heavily damaged the home.
Battalion Chief Tim Miller said the second fire at Pat Jourdan's home at 6130 17th Ave. occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Firefighters responded to the initial blaze at about 9 p.m. Thursday.
Capt. T.C. Rowell said early indications are the first fire began in the kitchen. Jourdan said he thought the blaze was caused by cooking grease. Jourdan praised firefighters at the time for the work they did to save his home.
No no injuries were reported.
