Students honored for academic achievement

The following students were named to the Meridian Community College President's List for the spring semester. The President's List includes students carrying 12 or more semester hours who have a grade point average of 4.0:

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Thomas Mitchell Robinson of Meridian has earned a bachelor's degree in leadership studies at Birmingham-Southern College. He graduated cum laude with distinction during commencement exercises last month.
Craig Watson of Meridian is the recipient of the $1,000 Paul and Gloria Nuckolls Health Scholarship at Meridian Community College for the coming school year. The scholarship is funded annually by an endowment established by the Nuckolls family through the MCC Foundation. Watson is a sophomore in the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
The 2001-2002 Sallie Mae Bell Scholar at Meridian Community College is Courtney Lynn Darnell of Collinsville. The M.B. Cobb family established the endowment through the MCC Foundation. Annual $1,000 scholarships are generated from the endowment. Darnell is a sophomore elementary education major.
Jeremy Jarvis of DeKalb is serving a summer internship with the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C. He is being sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.
Jarvis is a graduate of East Mississippi Community College. He plans to transfer to Mississippi College this fall to pursue a pre-medical/biology degree with a minor in vocal performance.
